Iceberg is a weekend long Winter Outdoor Skills Competition Camp for Scout Troops! Patrols will spend the day out on the trail completing different Winter OAS challenges. Scouts will have the opportunity to learn new skills, practice old skills, and show their knowledge! Formerly known as "Igloo Invitational Winter Camp", Iceberg is an event that we are very excited to bring back to our Scouts. As in the past, this event is held at the beautiful Blue Springs Scout Reserve. Iceberg is an event known as a Klondike Derby. Patrols will spend the day on the trail, moving between activities. They will need all of their gear with them that they will need for the days challenges, including lunch on the trail! Iceberg is also a competition camp! Everything at the camp will be scored for points and trophies. At the end of the day you get to spend all those points at the auction. ABOUT
STARS Scouts Group aims to raise Muslim youth in Canada on Islamic ethics and morals as well as building a positive, independent personality with leadership characteristics.
Our leadership development follows Scouts Canada’s “The Canadian Path” curriculum developing scouts through “plan – do – review” method to foster critical thinking, personal development, and team participation.
This framework is enriched and repurposed through mentoring, discussion, reminders, activities and other theme-based Islamic content to deliver a holistic understanding of Islam and build the scout’s Islamic personality and character.
Our program includes outdoor adventures such as camping, hiking, surviving leadership and other scouting skills.
Hands-on orientation provides a practical method of learning and helps youth build confidence. Activities and games provide a fun way to develop skills and provide contact with nature and the environment when pursued in an outdoor setting. Youth learn in small groups to build unity and a family atmosphere. Developing the characteristics of responsibility, self-reliance, self-confidence, and readiness, the scouts eventually learn collaboration and leadership skills.
An attractive program of varying activities expands a scout’s horizons and bonds the scout even more to the group. The Stars Scouts Group is open for all the youth in the community. Your in Scouting,
Rasheed Hourani
Program Director
Group Commissioner

Wildcat Camp

02/11/2024

Dear Amazing Stars Scouts group Scouters, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for the incredible effort and enthusiasm you all brought to our last camp. From setting the stage for the activities to supervise the kids for their safety to providing the food and the fantastic program, and for cooking the lentil soap that could rival a five-star restaurant (okay, maybe a three-star, but who's counting?), you all truly outdid yourselves. Your dedication to making the camp a memorable experience for everyone did not go unnoticed. Whether it was leading hikes with the energy of a 20 Energizer youth or sharing stories around the campfire that had everyone laughing until their sides hurt, you all brought something special to the table (and the campfire). A special shoutout to the camp leader scouter Sana along with the rest of the ladies, Ayam Nada, Amnay, and Houda for their legendary Lentil soap, leadership skills, involving kids in money management skills, starting the campfire without any match, and running the campfire program in an interactive way to make more attracted to the kids and to show them how Islam protect animals rights. I think we can all agree that those activities were the highlight of the camp! And let's not forget Omar, our young leader potential scouter for being such a skilled youth leader. Thank you for being such a fantastic team and for making the camp an unforgettable experience for all the scouts. Your hard work, creativity, and sense of humor are truly appreciated. Here's to many more adventures, laughter, and maybe a few more perfectly roasted marshmallows in the future! Rasheed Hourani Group Commissioner CMS, founder
